What is Scorigami?

Scorigami is the concept of a final score that has never happened before in a sport's history. The idea was popularized by Jon Bois, whose brilliant work on NFL scorigami inspired this project. Watch the original video

I built World Cupigami to bring a little American sporting culture to the world's biggest stage β€” in the spirit of sharing that makes the World Cup special. Scorigami works a bit differently in soccer than in American football, since goals are scored one at a time rather than in chunks of 2, 3, 6, 7, or 8. That makes new scorigamis rarer and more meaningful.

This currently covers the Men's FIFA World Cup only. A Women's World Cup edition is coming soon.

What's the point of this?

Honestly? Nothing. It's just fun if you're a sports analytics nerd like me. But if there's one good thing that can come out of this β€” when your team scores a scorigami, consider donating to a charity in the losing team's country. A historic scoreline is a great excuse to do some good in the world.
